  • Moms Demand Action, Abbey Winter
  • Colorado Ceasefire, Tom Mauser
  • Tom is the father of Daniel Mauser, one of the students killed at Columbine High School. Tom became a gun violence prevention advocate following that tragedy. He’s the father you see speaking on the steps of the state capitol in Michael Moore’s “Bowling for Columbine” documentary. He took a one-year leave of absence from his job to work as a lobbyist in the Colorado legislature to fight for stronger gun laws. When the legislature failed to pass any such legislation, Tom served as spokesman for Amendment 22, the successful Colorado ballot initiative that closed the “gun show loophole.” Tom serves as a board member of Colorado Ceasefire and as its spokesman. He’s the author of “Walking in Daniel’s Shoes,” an account of his experiences following the Columbine tragedy. The book title comes from the fact he literally wears his son’s shoes—the ones he wore that fateful day—whenever he speaks publicly.
  • ENZI
  • ENZI is an alt-pop artist from northern Colorado. ENZI’s raw talent and tireless work ethic have propelled her career, making strides with 3 sync placements on MTV and multiple local awards. ENZI’s debut single, “Flipside” was awarded a top-five spot at iHeartRadio KTCL 93.3's Big Gig 2018 . Another song, “I’m Sorry That I” won the grand prize in the iHeartRadio KTCL 93.3’s Hometown for the Holidays competition, earning the opening spot in Denver’s Not So Silent Night event in 2019. A renowned live performer, ENZI brings her exhilarating songs to life with a high energy show. She has opened for artists such as The Head and The Heart, Fitz and the Tantrums, Walk the Moon, Thirty Seconds to Mars, and more. Offstage, ENZI is a passionate advocate for mental health, writing and performing songs to be a voice for those who might need it. “I want to give life to the emotions and experiences we cannot describe with words,” she says. Evocative and relatable lyrics leave listeners feeling understood.

Colorado Fair Tax Initiative 271
Thursday, June 18, at 5:30pm

Please join Sally Boccella and her special guest, Executive Director, Carol Hedges from the Colorado Fiscal Institute for an informative discussion on the benefits of a Colorado Fair Tax.

The Colorado Fair Tax will do 5 things:

1. Initiative #271 repeals the single-rate income tax mandate in Article X, Section 20.

2. Initiative #271 implements a fair tax, which increases rates for income earned over $250,000.

3. A fair tax review commission will be composed of 25 appointed members. This commission will report to the governor, the General Assembly, and the public on the effects of the new fair tax system on state revenue, public service funding, income distribution, and business climate.

4. The revenue generated under Initiative #271 is voter approved, meaning it is not subject to the TABOR cap. Half is allocated to the recruitment, retention, and pay of pre-primary through K-12 teachers and student support staff. The other half will go toward addressing the impacts of a growing population and changing economy.

5. The majority of generated revenue (90 percent) must be spent on services not administration and to ensure funds are spent accordingly, a citizen’s oversight committee will be created.

Colorado is a great state to live, work, and grow. A fair tax will make it even better by investing in what we need, expanding opportunity, and providing a better quality of life for all of us.
